Hmmm.. Moulting problems? I have a few pieces of such in the past.. But the parts that came off were the ones near the stomach. I think if its nothing to serious by next moult should be fine.. But indeed looks scary though!

If it's a moulting problem you may consider increasing the calcium component of their diet before doing a WC? By my experience a WC will induce them to moult again, but if your shrimp has recently done so it may be dangerous for them to moult again so soon.

    Hi bro wolfgang246

What food to recommend with higher calcium content? I am not sure if the shrimp have just molted, as i do WC every weekends. Till today I have found 3 pieces in my tank have this problem, not sure if there are more. I will do a water check this evening to see if water condition is ok.

Seaweed is rich in calcium and iodine that help shrimps molt.
Some people put cuttlefish bone as well.

Occasionally I crushed the small snails in the tank, their shells are good calcium for shrimps.

U can maybe try crushed baked egg shells like what brother eviltrain has done.. Good source of calcium.. Don't think a water change will do anything though.. I just let them moult naturally..

I will skip the water change as well.
The most probably reason that they did not molt correctly is due to lack of calcium or iodine in their diet.

Water stimulating molting and that can bring death if they are really calcium or iodine deficiency.

For iodine, you can dose mosura mineral plus.

Hi, are there any differences if crushed egg shells are added without baking first?

    Hi All

    Just to update

Went to lFS and bought a bottle of mosura gravidas and added 2 spoonful into teh water and the next day two of the problem shrimp did molted and all are back to normal, prior to adding gravidas, feed them with some crushed egg shells as well.
