Iwagumi "Serene"

Hi all, here's my 3rd attempt for rock scape.
This time i will be using "Shou" rocks which i got from C328, auntie shop. Just nice there's 7 piece left for me.

Hardware for this scape :
Tank : 60x23x28 cm front curve tank ( i actually turn the tank around and paste black oyama paper on the curve side, trying out if it will give a infinity background )
Filter : still choosing between Atman CF-600 (720LPH) or Resun CY-20 (200 LPH)
Cooling : Still deciding if fan cooling is enough for the scape or maybe get a mini/nano chiller.
Lighting : i'm currently using 2 tube of T5 LED ( 20v 5watt each ) lights which my girlfriend bought for me for my birthday and happy to see there is growth for the hairgrass and HC with 8 hours lighting period.

Flora for this scape :

6 pots of normal hairglass. Few plantlets of HC.

Following photos are some of the rock placement which i had try out along with my girlfriend.

final placement. ( notice the lightset in this photo. It is the 5watt LED with E27 socket i mentioned in my shrimp rack thread. it does no hinder my movement when i was doing my rock placment and planting, and still give me ample light )

After planting hairgrass and HC. trying out DSM (dry start method) for 2-3 weeks for the plants to root well. ( can't wait to fill her up )

The few surviving HC which was grown emerse from the previous rock scape project. The pool of water is actually the lowest point in the tank. I have raise the front of the tank so that the slope behind will be moist enough for the hairgrass i planted behind.

Don't mind me asking....dry start means planting the plant in the soil 1st without adding any water into the tank???

DSM for 2-3 weeks....no water in the tank....the aquatic plant still can survive???

if you notice the condensation on the tank , i think he cling wrap the tank to prevent excessive water loss .

DSM = creating a green house effect, so sealing up the the tank is important(if you miss the wrapping up, DSM will fail), soil has to be wet but not till the water raises above the soil, above the soil the plant will start to melt or rot.

nice scape , if the front soil can level it flat and slope up would be much nicer. Amano always emphasis on the front should be flat instead of curvy as it gives unpleasant effect.

Thanks all for the comments. I did cling warp the top to create a high humidnity environment for the plants to grow first without drying up. Since i have already start, i will try to level the front some how.

some updates on change of equiptments.
-Dolphin 788 mini chiller is added and able to cool this tank to 26-27 degree these few days.
-pressurized CO2 tank at 2 bps in line with Dolphin CF-600 with dimax CO2 diffusor.
-both lightset and CO2 solenoid on at the same time for 8 hours using "theben" timer.
-lightset change to 3 x 24watt T5HO as advice by bro alvinchan80

able to see the HCs bubble off within 1/2 hour of lights on

Nice stones! from your latest picture, I can see that your HC has some nice growth. time to invest in a good camera

fauna added. 2 dwarf puffer, 12 mosquito boras and 2 fire red offspring from last time.



and my gf helped me filled 1/2 of this pre-filter with CRs.
