Hi, I just recently upgrade my PL11W to PLL18W for small tank.

My light compartment only have space for <12inch length PLL. So when I shop around...I only find the following...
    1. OSRAM 18Watt PLL (6500K daylight)
    2. OSRAM 24Watt PLL (5000K white)

Both can fit in,(36Watt cannot fit in) My question...

    1. Is it true that OSRAM does not have 24W daylight?
    2. Which should I choose for my planted tank?
    3. Is 24W(but 5000K) better than 18Watt(I need more light)?

    Thanks

What are your small tank's dimensions? I would go for the 18W tube if the tank is short, e.g. 25cm.

    1. Check the Osram website http://www.osram.com/ for their catalog.
    2. Why not consider other brands?
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

You have enough space for the ballast? How about having 2 pieces of 11W PL arranged in a staggered manner? The 11W PLs are not as wide as the 18W or 24W PL.

The contradicting part is, I just upgrade from ballast 11W PL to eballast 18W PLL. Because of Heat and higher Watt.

    Now I'm stuck.

    Thanks badman.

Juggler, realize that 2x11watt only work out to be 22watt, only 4 more watt than current 18watt. not much to gain.

Philips 24W PLL-840 comes in daylight temp.
A friend bought it from a DIY store before. Can consider.

As for eBallast, there don't seem to have Elbiru 24W type. The shopkeeper recommended using the 18-20W eBallast to support it, which works. Better to find out more about this or if you can find 25W eBallast from other brands.
