i received about 50 free shrimps today.

in the 50, about 20 CRS and rest is BDS i think.

2 is about hinomaru pattern, of which, 1 is berried.

    now i have 3 questions:

    1. should i separate the 2 types of shrimps?

    2. how can i get the berried CRS to successfully give birth? the eggs are reddish as of now.

    3. i noticed some BLUE Crystal "RED" Shrimps. are these good? they are clearly blue in color for the light blue, the darker blue can be seen under stronger light. are they desirable?

    4. i got the CRS as a free gift. i dont know what to feed it still. any suggestions?

i can provide picts of the blue CRS and berried CRS if any keen to see.

Very nice blue. I guess u can try selective breeding them so there will crystal blue shrimps. By the way. Has your tank finish cycle yet?

Bro.. I see a neon tetra in your pic.. If you want to make sure your shrimplets survive, please remove all of your fishes to prevent them from becoming tasty snacks!

i asked another person, he say the blue is undesirable as it is a weak coloration of black. is that true?

i guess my tank finished cycled cause i used a seasoned sponge from a 9 month old canister filter.

so what should i do to the blue ones now? will selective breeding in this direction work out?

biologically, black is dominant allele while red is recessive allele. then what is blue coloration caused by? gene disruption? can someone explain to satisfy my curiosity ty.

yes there are 3 neon tetras. and 2 Otos. ok ill have them removed to other smaller tanks i have.

btw, one of my CRS is berried, how can i make it turn into shrimplets? must i separate or take other special actions? please advise ty.

also, one of my question is, what grade is my berried CRS there? i think that one is the best one i have. please grade ty.

    Re: Help on CRS.

Hopefully there will be no problem for your shrimps because you tank is quite new. Ammonia spike might occur. Just leave the bellied shrimp alone and don't stress it. Shrimplets will appear soon.

ammonia spike occur liao. cause days ago bacteria manifest. add old sponge from old filter, next day cleared.

    they wont eat the shrimplets?

what should i do for the blue colored ones? separate and breed?

    Re: Help on CRS.

The 'blue' CRS could have come from food. I would leave them be. The adults will not eat the baby shrimp.

    1. from food? what food should i feed to make it more blue?

i have spotted really intense blue ones in the tank.

    2. cool. they will know its a baby so it wont eat it huh?

    3. just to clarify, lower grade BDS are brownish or blue-ish? as i have lots of brownish ones too.

    4. what food brands are decent for these shrimps? while i dont need top grade ones, i hope to get something decent for them to eat. any recommendations?

    5. i currently dont have pH pen, kh or gh indicator. are my shrimps at risk?

    Re: Help on CRS.

If you tank is relatively new I think its better to get a PH and ammonia test kit first then followed by the GH/KH indicator.
Did you shrimps come from a previous tank where CRS and BDS are kept together?
