go and get some water conditioner first. it will clear the floor cleaner. beside doing that, do a major water change ( around 50%) and put active charcoal to soak up any chemical.
-good luck-
My current CRS/Cherry tank may be contaminated with floor cleaning liquid. Somebody used the pail I use for changing water to rinse a mop without telling me and today when i added water using the pail, my shrimps all started swimming around like crazy and when i smell the pail i can detect a very light scent of the floor cleaner. Anyone with any idea what to do? I do not have a spare tank to transfer the shrimps to and I do not have any sort of antichlorine or water conditioner and my shrimps are still swimming like crazy.
Assuming my shrimps do not survive today is it still possible to salvage the soil or setup i am using?

Thanks for your reply i just did that after following the advice of another forum. Rushed to get anti chlorine and changed 40% water, added a pack of activated carbon and a few spoons of bio plus. Shrimps seems to be calming down with the exception of one will continue monitoring for any bad changes
oh thats great. hope that everything will go well for you. remember to do partial water change ( around 20% ) alternate days.

ok thanks i will monintor my tank for another 2 weeks before adding new shrimps
better to buy a new pail and label it CLEARLY that it is used for fish tank. Good Luck!
sad thing is my pail was already labeled on four sides using chinese english and malay..but the person happened to be extremely blind. Already got a new pail anyway
When you do get the pail, keep it in a separate area after use. In case the same idiot uses it again. You never know.

Well it happened to be an extreme bad day that day was teaching people how to set up a tank so the pail was left in the open vunerable to blind people. But anyway its already over and none of my shrimps died except for 3 tetras suprisingly. Hopefully there is not any after effect or some lag time before death occur.
Just watch the fish and shrimps for the next few weeks or so. Any after effects will be seen soon enough. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.![]()
