    Hi all

I am using the type with five plastic balls in it. Whenever i increased the CO2 bubble rate, i observed that the length of undissolved CO2 in the reactor increases. This causes the five plastic balls to stop spinning. Thus decrease the dissolved ability.

Is it normal, or something is wrong?

    Thks.

its normal , and it should also tell u that the "increased co2 rate" is too fast , and the Reactor cannot handle it . Try lowering it till there is a constant small vortex at the top

It's normal but it also depends on your filter flowrate.
Higher flowrate -> higher dissolve rate.

most of the reactors of the type you mentioned cannot handle high bubble rates. When CO2 starts accumulating in the top, you know you've exceeded the reactor's ability to dissolve CO2.

If the spinning balls have stop spinning, it could be due to a few reasons... dirt, CO2 accumulation come to mind. Somtimes removing one ball helps as you reduce the inertia of the system. Alternatively, taking the bottom of the reactor could also helps as you reduce the water resistance leaving the reactor (doing this removes the ability to direct the water output though).

Thks for all the replies. They are really helpful.

Me will try to lower the CO2 bubble rate so that the accumulated CO2 in my reactor will be reduced. Hence, the five balls will spin.

But i am afraid that my CO2 level will not reach 20ppm. If that is the case i will try what the moderater said that is to remove one of the ball.
(Why i never thought of that)

Or should i change my filter? I am using Atman 3335 (600l/h) for my 3ft tank.
If i am not wrong, this rate is good enough as it is more than 3 times of my tank volume.

    Anymore suggestion.

    Thks.

    Sorry Allen.

Me don't really understand your last part.
Do you mind if you explain again.

Alternatively, taking the bottom of the reactor could also helps as you reduce the water resistance leaving the reactor (doing this removes the ability to direct the water output though).

    Thks
