Mr Aqua Tornado fan is one of the quietest around. Not sure if it is <15db. I have one and it is so quiet that you will not notice it.
Hi,
does anybody has any good recommendation for a good SILENT aquarium fan? I'm using Dymax Colling Fan W-8. Its acoustical noise is <37.5dB. And that is considered loud to me. Does anybody know of any good ones that are more silent than this? Preferably should be less than 15dB??

acoustical level in dBA is a logarithmic scale. an increase/decrease of 3dBA in sound intensity equals to doubling/halving.
finding a fan with < 15dBA may be possible but be prepared to pay for it.
high fan air volume throughput and quiet running are mutually exclusive. choose 1.
or you can use multiple fans but run them at a fraction of their maximum rated speed.

I am using the dymax W5 fan and it's noisy when compared to the previous ANS brand fan (it died after I accidentally dropped it into the tank). Now i cannot turn the fan on at night because wife complains that it is disturbing her TV time. Would definitely buy the latter again once the dymax dies.
Agree with the ANS brand, was previous using dymax w7 too but fan noise is too much to bear.went with ANS and noise level went down alot.![]()
May I know which ANS model you are using?
Hi, what is the power consumption of ANS fan? Is it easily available in most LFS? Thanks.
Am using a ANS 1000, it's a 12 volts. Am using it in a 1 feet and another 20cm tank, so far am able to achieve about 26-28 degree c.
Have seen them in a few of lfsthink Seaview have one of the most competitor price for that model ( got mine from c328 and colourful)
arg... you reply too late, I just bought GEX the one that look like hair dryer. Its expensive and I don't think its quite
Sorry for the late reply. Hope the fan you bought is nit that bad.
The design is good, the build also good, just the noise is lounder than expected![]()
Robert... the GEX fan claims can reduce around 4 degrees... true for you?![]()
err.... no idea, now a days the weather is cold, no problem reaching 25-26C or even 24C in the morning
By the way, in order to reduce the noise, I drop the supply voltage from 12V initially to 9V. I have spare power supply adapter for it.
GEX? ok for me, i bought medium size, not very loud

different people have different expectation I guess![]()
I bought Mr Aqua Tornado fan and it is very quiet compared to other brand and it roughly manage to reduce 2 degrees.
I just got myself a ANS Cooling Fan 100. It is silent. And it cools my tank down to 26 degrees from 28. Awesome! Would recommend this fan to anyone having a 25L Nano Tank![]()
Cheers!

I have both the Dymax w-7 and ANS 1000, the ANS 1000 is more silent than the w-7 but the power is less than the W-7. I want to find a fan that have the same power as w-7 and silent as ANS 1000. Is there any?
how about ANS 3000?
