Sure. No problem. I will take a photo tonight and upload it. As for the UGP pipes, i wants to get the water to suck in from the centre so that there will not be any "dead spots".

    Re: Just Another Shrimp Tank

As per request, here's the photo of the pre-filter

number 1 pre filter filled with white wool.

number 2 prefilter filled with PM ceramic rings.

oh ya, to prevent the ceramic rings from scratching the inside of the pre filter, i actually cut a transparency to size and slot in before i fill it up with ceramic rings.

    - guess this prefilter is going to be out of stock soon -

Thanks for the pictures! Now I know how it works. Haha.. not sure if everyone is rushing to buy the pre-filter but I am still in the planning phase and the pre-filter does take up cabinet space so have to consider that. So how often do you plan to maintain your filter given that you have a pre-filter? Once a year or never?

    Re: Just Another Shrimp Tank

I will just change the prefilter with white wool when the white wool seems getting darker and darker. And i can actually change active charcoal in it whenever i wants ( since active charcoal is best not to leave in for more than 3 months.)

Its actually good enough for my tank size as 60x30x35cm = around 63 litres.

500LPH divide by 63 litres will give me 7.9-8 times water cycle rate.

A shrimp tank flow rate is best between 5-6 times as i do not wants to turn my tank into a washing machine.

The Hailea HC-150A flow rate is rated between 250 to 1200L/H, shouldn't be a problem for the cooling with the flow rate around 500-600 from the ehiem 2026 pro 2.

    -thanks for viewing-

hahah if I'm not wrong.... filter flow rate is given by the manufacturer when the filter is measured with no media and at ground level... so it is the flow rate of the pump itself with out any load at all (which means no hose, no connectors, zero media, etc..)

maybe best is using an external probe.

I agree that the flow rate is measured when media is absent. Thats why i made a rough estimation for the flow rate. Will attach a photo of my 2026 flowrate when i back from seri manjung, malaysia.

Cool what test strip is that?

yeah should be about 50% flowrate gone~ perfect for your tank size.
I'm powering my 1/4hp chiller and eheim 2028 filter with eheim 1260 pump, but that is for my 200L tank.

but my future upgrade will try to mod an external temperature probe for the chiller.

Can't wait to see your shrimps

    Re: Just Another Shrimp Tank

    -some update-

I have put 2 commando low grade CRS in the tank since the 3rd day of water change and they seems to adapt quite well with the water. always grazing around and quite active. test strip result also great. Will be switching on my chiller end of this week and place 2 pcs of higher grade commandos in to test water.

    -things to take note-

those people who gets the prefilter which i using for this setup, remember to tighten the screw at the joint to prevent leakage.

For my case actually there is some air leaking into the canister from the 2nd prefilter ( with ceramic rings ) and dropped the flow rate over the weekend when i was not around.

Last night i tighten the screw using the white tape for water pipes and seems that the problem is solved.
