hi eviltrain,
very nice setup...
i'm doing up a 60cmx30cmx35cm tank using TR5 and 2215 combo...is this flowrate fine?
currently looking around for some stones or rocks to build up and i can start the tank cycling.
Juz to ask, as this is new for me..during cycling...must i turn on the TR5 too?

Hope you can advise me.

-how i prepare my media-

victim : Ehiem Subtract Pro

ways : washing and boiling



washing



boiling with distilled water



sleeve out the media using stainless steel mesh



cooling



whats left over.



drying

reason : the boiling will unclog the pores of the media and therefore maximum the effectiveness of the media. repeat washing will dissolve other those minerals which might increase the gH or kH of the water.
