    Hi Bros,

I've had several cases where I've seen berried CRS in the morning before I got to work only to find them dead when I return in the evening from work.

I've had several successful batches of births so I know the water isn't totally unsuitable for baby CRS. But what makes me wonder is why do the mothers die? And is there a way to control this? I know there are several Mosura products out there that can help, but I'm not sure whats the problem. Is it lack of nutrients? calcium? some other vitamin I'm not providing? Or is it just bad genes that cause them to die?

I have kept CRS before and did experience the same problem. One thing i noticed is that ONLY the "mothers" are affected.
What i suspect and know of is that they are rather more sensitive to any changes to the surroundings and can be "shocked" to death.
What i would do is to ensure the tank is very quiet with just the mother inside a big tank(1feet cube would be good). The "liveliness " of other shrimps i find can make it not conducive for the mother. If it's a lack of nutrients/calcium/vitamin ,wouldnt other shrimps die too :O?

If you do suffer losses for the pregnant shrimps with eggs, You can articifially incubate the shrimp eggs in a container and using a airpump inside to provide aeration.
The fertilised eggs would hatch according depending on the gestation period. Ensure that you place not more than 5 in a cluster to avoiding losses due to fungal attack.

You need to provide alot more hiding place for your bellied crs. May it be driftwoods or rooted plants with big leaves. If will make them feel more safe and won't be disturb by other shrimps.
