a snail trap is easy to make. doesnt have to be a bottle, a plastic cup with a stone to act as weight will do. the bigger the area, the easier to trap more snails.
Hi,
First time posting a question.
Read from a article regarding using trap(250mil bottle and placed it into the tank with one boiled lettuce) to remove unwanted snails. I wonder any anyone has tried and would like to share the result.
My tank has lots of snail to remove.

No need cup even... use a flat piece of plastic (LouHan Divider) also can!
My snail population is low as I feed minimum. Or I feed in stages, only when the initial food is totally consume then the next tiny spoon of food will follows. Food won't go to waste and for Worm or Snail to feed on. Even if food manage to fell to the ground, my ground cleaner crew Cories will finish them off

Snails also can consume algae. Even if you do not over feed your fishes. It will not reduce the snail population.
Read somewhere that placing an inverted saucer on the foreground with some food smack in the center will attract a big number of snails ... do it for a few days ...

just use your fingers, let your fish snack on the crush snails too.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

OOI how come no one mention PUFFER, RAM, CLOWN LOACH, etc snail munching fishes...
they reduce your snail population and add some spice to your tank too!

because DK is asking for opinion of using a trap to remove unwanted snails. []
and puffers are known to nip at fins and clown loach may bite plant leaves.
snail may be unsightly but they don't harm.

Every morning there will be snails crawling up towards the surface...just use hand to crash them.
if not... mini puffer will do the trick but remember to remove after all the snails have been eaten up.
ya ya..crush them. Best way. Another method that I do is to use tube to suck them out and at the same time clearing my sand bed of particles..sai, decayed leaves stuff like that. Usually this is perform when u want to change the water. Advisable for small tanks only.
Bigger ones, u might want to use Mr. Cleaner to help u...but u will need strong batteries power to suck the snail![]()
What do you do with the puffer after it had done its job.
Me insist not to buy it because it is pretty cruel to throw them away.
Why is there no food for them?
I am still removing the snails manually.
hmm.. the mr cleaner idea seems pretty good![]()
give the snail a gentle poke with the plastic, watch them hide in their shell and let go of the surface, then vacuum them up!
muhahahhahahahahahaha
