Well, you can consider nerite snails. They don't breed in freshwater. So you'll never have more than what you bought![]()
Hi, I have a small 2 feet tank and I wanna keep like maybe 2 snails? Yeah, 2 snails. But I don't wanna end up with 2 rapidly breeding snails with the desperately need to TAKE OVER MY AQUARIUM WITH THEIR MAD BABIES.
As such, I was hoping to get some recommendations to getting relatively cheap snails that are ok-ok looking and NOT DESPERATELY NEEDING TO TAKE OVER MY AQUARIUM WITH THEIR MAD BABIES. So, yeah, less.... frisky types please?
Anyone can help? I also intend to get a black mountain shrimp. And 3 kuhli loaches. And 2 cories, 10 tetras and 1 chinese algae eater. So... yeah.
Help?
Thanks so much.

Kept (no more) Betta persephone, B. miniopinna, B. sp. palangkaraya, B. uberis, B. channoides, B. burdigala
Pseudepiplatys annulatus, Nannostomus eques
Ooo... brilliant. And they look quite cute too.
Now the question is.. where do I get them from? They dun look like the ones I see at the LFS near me.
Many pet shops will stock them, most commonly stocked species are the zebra nerites and the horned nerites. Another possible option for your snail will be the sulawesi snails, they look quite nice and they reproduce very slowly, mine had 5 baby snails over the 1/2 year period i kept them.
Yes that's true. You can try some of the one stop LFSs like Y618 and C328. they stock them regularly. As for Sulawesi snails, they require high pH like 8. For the planted aquarium, horned nerites work best for me xD

I like sulawesi snails.
Btw to lucasjiang how many do you keep for them to breed?
i have 5 of each type, i have 2 types, so 10 in total. they dont cross-breed.
Gonna look at Nerite snails THIS WEEKEND. *nods* Whoohooo!
Also, could someone tell me if my mix of fauna for my 2 feet tank is ok?
1 bamboo shrimp.
3 kuhli loaches.
2 cories.
10 neon tetras.
1 chinese algae eate.r.
2 horned nerite snails
1 shrimp?
I not sure what is a bamboo shrimp.
If it is a small shrimp like crs, chances of it getting eaten by tetras is very high.
I used to have tetra in my crs tank.
Crs number dwindling without even seeing the bodies around.
You bet how fast it is.
Horned Nerite is good.
Ummm... bamboo shrimp are much larger than CRS. They're practically PRAWNS in my opinion. But they're called shrimp so nevermind. They eat primarily detritus and are very cute. (to me)

Yeah, so I think they REALLY aren't gonna have problems with tetras. And apparently they are really docile cause they have webbed fans instead of claws, so no tugging at fins or anything.
Horn nerite snails. I have 5 in 2009 and now the number is still 5.
No re-production.
Brilliant. No is wanted a tsunami of baby snails.
Thank you SO much guys. Hopefully this'll get me a great aquarium where things DO NOT DIE. And stay beautiful. For ever.
At least for a long enough period of time. *shrugs*
YAY!
Get assasin snails.
I got nerite. Not horned ones tho coz for some reason they costed more. HAHAHA. Yeah, I'm a cheapskate. So yeah, fauna's interred. And now to see if they survive long. Whoohooo.
Oh then those should be zebra nerites. Their bigger cousins xD
