Here's my "Low Light Low Maintainence" sort... of ... SE Asia tank (frogbits and tenellus are not SE Asian[]

Residents are cherry barbs, 2 blue mickey platies, the usual cleaning crews; otos and shrimps and 2 fire belly newts(this their 2nd home)

A bit more about this tank;
The tank specs:

15 gal
Light: 24watts PL at 10hrs per day (1.6watts per gal)
Temp: 27-29ºC
CO2: connected but hardly turn on (2bps)


Substrate:Mainly Black Quart
Base Fert: Horti Root Tabs
Fert regime: 2 drops PPMD every other day
K2SO4 5ml 3 times a week hitting 15ppm by week end
Water change: 50% every week or so.

Plants: frogbits, E. tenellus, Cyprto Balanse, Cryprto Wendit, Java Moss

Bioload: Cherry Barbs, Blue Mickey Mouse Platies, Oto, Yamato and Malayan Shrimps, and 2 Fire-Belly Newts

Very nice setups! I like the 2ft tank as well.

I upgraded the lights from 36watts to 72 watts over the last 2 months(had replaced the tenellus to glosso).

The current specs are:
20gal
Light: 72watts PL at12hrs per day
Temp: 27-29ºC
CO2: (3bps)

Substrate: lonestar
Base Fert: Horti Root Tabs
Fert regime: 3 drops PPMD every other day. supplement of 3 drops ppmd micros 3 times a week
About ml JBL ferro..something after waterchange
K2SO4 at 8ml 3 time a week (about 25ppm by weekend)
Water Change: 50% per week


Actually, I would really like to drop your place sometime.. heard so much about your tanks
