    Hi!

My chiller takes really long to lower my water temperature and it cant seem to chill below 26 degrees.

    My specs are as follows:

    tank size 2ft x 1ft x 1.5ft

filter atman df-700 flowrate stated: 880l/hour

chiller resun cl-450 with external thermostat (bought 2nd hand last month but very new and just serviced. seller tested for me and was working well)

My thoughts are that my filter is not strong enough due to flowrate. Flow seems to be weak at the outlet after passing through the filter.

So I am thinking of pushing up the flowrate with a pump.

Any advice or recommendation regarding to what pump to get and maybe estimated price? I can only use an external pump not an in-tank pump.

If not any advice to solve my problem guys?

    Thanks!!!!

A bit weird, you are using CL-450 (1/6 hp) to chiller 2ft tank but since you are using external thermostat I guess it should be ok.

So what is the temperature display on the thermostat? What temperature did you set on the external thermostat?

Either the tank is losing all the coldness at quite a fast rate or your chiller could not chill below 26 degrees as either it is placed in an enclosed area or it's refrigerant volume has decreased?

    Re: Pump for chiller

Hi! The chiller is placed in quite an open area. I ensured that there is about 40cm distance from the wall. I tried lowering the temperature again just now. There is no external box that displays the temperature, the thermostat probe is directly wired into the chiller. I remember that was how you did it in your website Bro Shadow. Just now I set it to 25 deg, range is +- 1. Internal tank temperature was 27 so chiller kicked in. After about half an hour it went down to 26 then it just stays there at 26 and it doesn't go down anymore. in the meantime, the chiller is still running. Hmmmm so it could be the refridgerant low and not insufficient flowrate?

Do you have thermometer in your tank? If yes, does the temperature display on the chiller the same as the one display on the thermometer inside tank?

Sound like refrigerant rather than flowrate

Yes I have. The temperature display is indeed the same as my tank thermometer. Thanks for the advice seniors. Any rough gauge on topping up the refridgerant?
