I think they need brackish water, just like Yamato, for the babies to survive. So it'll be tough.
Oh, and if you have a nice planted tank, beware as they'll munch your plants! Good luck!

I've recently noticed that some of my LFS have gotten in Mosquito shrimp.
I would like to breed them eventually, but first I need to make sure I get some males and females. Now, I currently own two mosquito shrimp and I'm fairly certain they are male because they are fairly large, have the large red nose and are slightly opaque.
According to:
http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Bug,%20Rudolph%20Shrimp.htm
The females don't have the red nose, is this true? It seems like that article is fairly old, written in 2005.
I also went to another LFS who had three of these shrimp, and evidently they were accidentally shipped these shrimp because none of the staff could tell me what they were. The ones that they had were pretty small, around .75" long but they all had small red noses. Is it too early to try and sex these shrimp? Or are they definitely male because they have the red noses?
I'm also a little confused because I found this video of a mosquito shrimp releasing its young on youtube:

From the video, it seems like the female giving birth actually has a red nose, albeit a shorter nose than the males that I have.
If any of you familiar with mosquito shrimp could help me out I'd be very appreciative.
