    Hi ,

    Newly introduced to planted aquarium.

Having a 1.5ft GEX shallow tank, i wish to use the ANS in-flo Lily Pipe for my output.
Eheim 2213 uses a 12/16mm tube which will use a 13mm lily pipe. I feel that the lily pipe seems too big for my tank.

Anyone uses a step-down connector to hook up 9/12mm tubing to a 10mm lily pipe instead?

Does it affect my flow rate ?

    Please advise.

sure it will affect the flowrate. imagine a pipe from big to smaller size, the output is also lowered. however the reduce flowrate may be ok for your tank since yours is a 1.5ft.

    Hi Jimmy, Thanks.

Does the lowered output affect the working condition of my filter in long terms of running reduced output flow?

Hi! I am also having this dilemma as you! My eden501 uses 9/12mm piping which fits the 10mm lilypipe perfectly. But i wish to change to 2213 for better filtration but their tubing size is 12/16mm.

However, I do not quite understand, what does Jimmy meant by lowering of the output? Is it referring to the water speed exiting?
    Cheers!

I believe the flow rate pressure going from a larger hose to a smaller hose will increase. As the lily pipe is created to diffuse water flow rate, the water exiting from the 2213 could be higher than the eden 501 but the flow rate increase might not be much, just a slight increase due to the lily pipe opening.

Oh but is there such a stepdown connector available in the market now? And will 2213 turn my 25L aquarium into a washing machine?
    Cheers!

I think such stepdown connector for 12/16 to 9/12 is rare. Not sure if I remembered correctly because I did tried to try to find one last time. Only saw 16/22 to 12/16 type. Anyway 2213 flowrate can be adjusted, so shouldn't be an issue, right?

    Griffinkid;

I did saw a few reducer on a local online store. It states Straight Reducer Connector (12/16mm)..

Just wondering does the figures means from 16mm tubing to 12mm tubing..So i did not get it. Kinda Misleading.

I am using the double tap to control the flowrate on my 2213, it does not turn my 21L tank into washing machine.

hi! Oh i see, yes because i have been looking out for such a connector to connect 2 tubing of different diameter but failed to find any... but i think it should work well.
    Cheers!

Hey, I'm having the same set up, 2213 with 10mm lily pipe outlet. Got my tube converter from Polyart. China brand but much cheaper than c328 eheim parts. Working fine on my 40cm tank. Don't worry about the tank becoming washing machine, as you can use the double tap to control flowrate. Anyway more flowrate is better than low flowrate, helps to remove 'blind spots' and overfilter is always better than under filter.

hey! Yes that's the set up i want! haha because i find eden501 is too weak to create a proper vortex >.< Am looking for a second hand 2213 though hopefully can find one.
