Ok, Cory is out and changing to Neon Tetra and Shrimps. But what's wrong with HC and DSM?

    Re: Nano Scape (DSM)

Didn't know Corys are so playful. They are fun to look at especially when fighting for a single piece of food.
Tentatively my fauna list will be as follows.
    1. 6-10 x Neon Tetra
    2. 10 x Yamato/Malayan Shrimp (Any advice on which is better if I am only using fan to cool the tank)
    3. 2 x Oto

Equipment to be added when it is time to fill the tank.
    1. Shiruba XB301 External Filter
    2. ANS Opti Glass I-Flo (13mm)
    3. LumenAqua Nano LED Lamp
    4. CO2 system with JBJ Regulator w/Solenoid

    Am I missing out anything?

    Re: Nano Scape (DSM)

The Pearl Grass (Hemianthus Micranthemoides) is pearling a bit in my main tank which I placed it in temporary while waiting for the Nano tank to be filled.

Got it together with the HC and the rest of the plants from Mizu World. It had finish melting and is growing new leafs now. Wonder if it will melt again when I plant it into the Nano.

Some of the HC are growing taller. Do I need to trim them after I fill the tank?

    Re: Nano Scape (DSM)

Bought the LumenAqua Mini from freshnmarine.com.sg on Tues and had it delivered today. The price is as per what is listed on the site now.

It is using 4 x 1W Philips Lumileds LED producing a total of 1700 Lux which is more than enough for a Nano. Product specification in mandarin only can be found here.
The aluminum casing on top is very hot to the touch as compared to the low power LED. I believe this is were the heat is dissipating out from. The power line comes with a rocker switch and a detachable power adapter. There is also a piece of good quality clear plastic to shield the LED from splashes.
    Check out the photos below.

Also do check out the video at the end for the shimmering effect... on the tank next to the Nano.

    Re: Nano Scape (DSM)

While my HC is growing in the Nano, the Pearl Grass is also flourishing in my main tank

    from this...

    to this after 2+ weeks...

Hope the HC will not melt as much when I flood the tank... Gonna blast the CO2 and dose Excel intensely. Planning to flood the Nano tank this weekend once I get the filter. Decided to get Eheim Classic 2211, hope I will not regret. Anyone can PM me the prices that you saw at the LFS for me to compare please.

    And... ICT CANCELED!!! Woohooo....

    Re: Nano Scape (DSM)

On Friday evening, bought the Eheim Classic 2213 eventually for future proofing and higher filtration volume followed by flooding the tank the same night.

Oh my... the HC which grew into the black sand area floated up as the tank is being filled. The roots did not grow as deep as those in the soil area. I need fine soil, anyone can spare me some enough to weight the HC down?

This shows that sand can grow plants that need soil as long the necessary nutrients are provided but be prepared for weaker rooting if you did not wait long enough. In this case the nutrients are leach from the GEX soil into the sand area.

Also planted the HM that have been sitting in my main tank at the back and 2 small bunch of hair grass next to the stone. The hair grass is for testing, If I can't control the growth will have to pull it out.

Here are some photos before filling up the tank.

DOes the lumen aqua light provide sufficient coverage for your 1 footer? It seems like you have to put it sideways?

    Re: Nano Scape (DSM)

Mine is not a 1 ft but a 20 cm width and the light is longer than the tank so I put it sideway. The other concern is the crypt likes diffused light and by putting sideway the crypt will not be getting too direct lighting. I am trying to avoid CO2 injection and with Excel dosing, the HC and HM are pearling already so I believe the light is sufficient and maybe more than enough. At 1700 Lux, it is so much more powerful than the usual lighting for Nano.

If anyone is intending to get it, the Nano version with 7 LED at 10.5 W will be out in SG around May according to FnM. If you getting the Mini version with 4 LED at 4.2 W, do PM me for some good news that I found out only the next day after I placed my order with FnM.

    More photos to come later...

your mesh looks more like us fissiden on it.. but dead ones.. either they dont grow at all or they will take years to fill that mesh.

Confirm is Christmas Moss. I made it myself from the left over that I salvage after retying the one from my 2 feet. Slow growth is good, so that the Nano won't be crowed so fast.

    Re: Nano Scape (DSM)

Jeff, congrats on filling up the tank!
That's fast (the flooding) and it looks like your HC has multiplied well and doubled.
Here's wishing your plants undergo a smooth transition.

Have you decided on the fauna?

    Re: Nano Scape (DSM)

Mine small tank ma. Hope can sustain the growth.

Oto is a must and maybe my 9 cheapo RCS now swimming in the breeder tank on my 2 feet.
Gonna try semi low tech with Excel dosing only.

    Re: Nano Scape (DSM)

Tested the water parameters on Day 05 after flooding the tank.

    Ammonia - 0 ppm
    Nitrite - 0 ppm
    NitrAte - 5 ppm
    pH - 7-7.5 pH
    KH - 4 dKH
    GH - 1 dKH

Added a Horned Nerite Snail in to start the algae controlling.

Wonder if it is now safe to add my RCS in? Any advise from other shrimp keepers?

    Re: Nano Scape (DSM)

Looks like DSM is working for you, no melting in HC right? And no Co2 too! Your light + cooling fan really taking up the entire top of the tank!

Nitrate seems fairly high so if can wait, then wait a bit until the nitrates come down. Otherwise, RCS quite hardy and you can take a risk.

PH seems fairly high for shrimp soil and GH seems really low.
