Just a few weeks ago, I thought I found 4 small snails which I thought were baby Horned Nerite snails in my tank. Today, I found out from another thread and subsequent Googling that Horned Nerite snails rarely breed successfully in freshwater tanks, if at all.
I found two of them tonight and took some pictures. Below is the clearest photo. The coin at the bottom of the photo is a Singapore 10 cent coin.
What do you think? Their shells are slightly more conical then the adults, but less so then the other snail I have in the tank which is the more common pond snail that sometimes come with our plants. Dark bands are starting to show.

Horned nerites this size would have spikes already visible. Why? because i bought 3 of them at lfs. =)
i had them in my tank also. they are not Horned Nerites snails. They're pond snails.![]()

Interesting article. I have a hunch we're going to get a bunch of people selling Baby Nerites in a few weeks time.

Oops, got exposed already. I separated mine into different container last night to identify their sexes and the only one in the tank is still laying eggs on the glass!!!
If i understand correctly, once the female is matured sexually, they will start laying eggs for a period of time even without a male around to mate. These eggs will be unfertilized one and the more they eat the more they lay.
This explains why mine is laying so much because the algae on the leafs are getting lesser and lesser.

You mean the ones similar to the one in the photo at this site: http://www.pondexpert.co.uk/pond-snails-inYourPond.html
I have those, big and small. The two in my photo look nothing like them, even when similar in size. Hence, my suspicions.

No worries, Jeff. As long as they are related posts.

Vincent's looks like the Nerite juvenile in the previous link I posted. At least 1 of it.

100% sure that is pond snail.
If you have shrimps inside your tank with them, you can crushed them with your finger and the shrimps will feed on them.

Crush with something else will be better if not it will go "kracwww" or "squish" on your finger...

looks like a pond snail though

Crushed my unknown snail with the planting tweezer and fed it to my new shrimps today. Whahaha.
Everything was gone within 30 minutes.
