i always fighting algae but still got more
I think Ludwigia Repens are fast growing and they are red under the right conditions![]()
...I love rubies too ...
Ken

red? hmmmm... rotala macrandra, ludwigia repens, sp., arcuata, Alternanthera reineckii, Myriophyllum tuberculatum
what the article is trying to say is that if your tank has algae then either you have shortage of other nutrients or abundant of nutrients, therefore using rapid growth plants
Another thing Simon,
Do you bring in the tropica plant book?
Tropica used to have a downloadable plant database with pix.
I still have it, but the new database is much better but is not downloadable.
Does AQ bring in the book? Or do you know how i can order it?

It looks more like a marketing sales pitch for their products with some useful infomation that has been out for a long time. I also have serious issues with any plant companies selling algae inhibitors etc for planted tanks.
Their Green water ID is wrong. It takes a Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) to identify GW(Cells are around 2-4 microns in diameter). It is not a Cyanophyte.
Many European companies don't say what nutrients etc they use, only some commerical stuff they sell and that they will not say what's in it etc.
Maybe it's just an attitude we have in the USA, but we are cheap and want to know why (too bad it does not apply to our political system here! ).
Tropica has been on a similar page as me and I tend to see eye to eye with growers better than makers of equipment/systems. Claus and I agreed with many things from heating cables/traces/plant health= fish health= no algae et al. Tropica has not promoted algicides/trendy solutions, just good basic plant growth ideas, high quality things that work. They are also good about marketing while still maintaining good basic ideas.
Claus also knows plants/algae. He's been to where they grow. He and I are in agreement on about everything.
Too bad he lives on the other side of the pond, I'd go work for them![]()

Tom Barr
