damn, i didn't know how to diff the sex coz i don't really look at them. Mine exactly 6 of them, mixing with another Puntius pentazona pentazona.
The rhomboid barb (Systomus rhoomboocellatus Koumans 1940) is a very beautiful and hard to find south-east asian fish. Related to the tiger barb and six-banded barb, it is shy and schools together amongst vegetation. Once they settle down and their colours emerged, they are a sight to behold. They also make an excellent pond fish due to the shimmering and glittering edges of their scales when looked at from above. Try to keep at least six for them to school.
Males have red anal fins while females have a rounder belly and colourless anal fins.
You can also download a video taken from my tank. Colour doesn't do justice to them because I was only using the video mode on a digital cam, not a really video cam.
* if you have difficulty downloading the video, trying reloading or pasting the following "http://www.imagestation.com/picture/....mpg" into your browser.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
