Saw your stainless steel mesh to give some sort of the protection for the shrimp. Think that is the LAST thing that they have to worry about considering the amount of fish you have inside.
All the fish in there have small mouth and with sufficient hiding place the shrimp will survive. The reason of the mesh was because before the mesh was added, shrimps are often found in the sump. Shrimps that can fit through the slits will often wonder in into the overflow pipe and get sucked down. If shrimplets ever get sucked down, will be even better. They can live safely in the sump till they get big enough.Originally Posted by cheetf

Do you mean the thing on the top left of the front glass? That is a digital thermometer display.

I don't mean the thermometer. There is a boxy like thing hanging outside of your tank. Looks to me like an external filter or tank. But I can't tell. What is it?
