    I'm unaware of the detrimental effects the plants in their original stone wool would have in the long run but wouldn't it be safer & better to plant them in small plastic garden pots filled with gravel?

    Can't recall how much. Should be quite cheap.

    Shi Xuan,

    The problem is that there are more nasties living in the wool than you expect. People have found worms, seed shrimps, algae, snails etc in the wool, especially those that came in bags with some "dirty" water. As you said, it is much safer to just replant the plant in a pot with a little fertiliser at the bottom and then covered up with regular gravel like those river quartz. I grew a Cryptocoryne wendtii in that manner, except that I replaced the fert layer with coco peat.

    @Melthazor,

    I think price for the L size was approximately $30+ last I remember. The S size is cheap, less than $20 I think. M was $26 or so.

    I've kept the wool on my bacopa for a few months and they are growing real fast. The only pest snail I got was from the java moss I bought.

    Don't follow what I did.
    The wool was not straight from LFS, it was washed and dried before reusing.
    These plants were extra from trimmings that I put in to do some experiment.
    Anyway all the pots are removed already.

    Here is how the tank looks now
