Gorgeous Biotope. What is the lighting regime to keep the plants healthy?
Wow..this is very nice. Always wanted to do something like this.
The possibility is endless on what we can create
Looks like the work of a PRO. Nice![]()
Very natural and wild. Very like our rain forest.
Curious how you keep the emerse plant watered?
wow. looks really natural, how did you support all those woods and plants on back of the tank? do you have any during set up pictures?
The top part of the scape looks very nice but i felt the submerse/bottom part of the scape could do better. Overall it's still a very nice scape. By the way do provide info on the tank's specs, light, filter, fertilization regime etc etc......
Admiring my Fishes calm the Beast within me
the trickle of water from the moss is beautiful!nice work!
Thank you folks for the nice words, it's very encouraging.
Let me try to answer your questions.
I use 2 lamps for lighting, one is a lamp for the overhead plants (can't remember the wattage got to check again).
This is just a normal bulb i got from the hardware shop. I am just using it temporarily and will be getting a plant specific one soon.
As for the submersed plants i use a lamp with a LUMENAQUA led bulb. Can't remember the wattage as well got to check the box.
Both lights are on for about 6-7hours a day.
I use a powerhead to pump water out from individual hoses onto different section of the set up to keep the necessary places moist.
At the same time this acts as a wet/dry trickle filter as they run through the moss and other surfaces.
I also have a really small internal powerhead filter just for water circulation purpose.
Yes i do agree that the bottom submersed section can be done up better but i am letting the plants grow first before adding in other plants as i want to see how it grows before i realise that i have actually overcrowded the tank as the top part of the tank already looks kinda "busy" with alot going on. Got to find a balance somewhere.
I was too busy trying to set up the whole time that i couldn't be bothered to take any pictures when more then half the time my hands are soiled and wet.
The driftwood pieces were actually kind of lodged in place between it's branches and the glass panel.
I spent a great deal of time shifting it in different position until i got it to my satisfaction.
I made sure that they are very secure and can't be easily moved.
I am not a fan of iwagumi or nicely shaped and trimmed "water gardens" although i think that they can be nice as well.
Personally i like all my tanks to have a natural, wild theme to it.
The high and low water season in the amazon rainforest is a huge influence for me.
It amazes me to see the fishes swim among the trees when the water level rises during certain times of the year.
I also like the way it looks right below the surface on banks of tributaries along the amazon.
I use that influence and try to create a whole new biotope with what i can lay my hands on and whatever i can work with.
I appreciate all of your appreciations and comments.
Bravo bravo bravo![]()
