    Hi,

Some questions for the experts from a newbie.

I'm pretty new in setting up an aquarium and have recently set up a tank with a PH value of 6 and all other elements in the tank seems to be stable.

After a few weeks of cleaning the tank. I realize the tubing and suction pads used for my air pump have some slimly residue on the surface.

Was wondering if this was caused by the acidity of the water and if it is corroding the plastic, and if so is there any cause for concern.

    Any comments would help.

Also, I have been using black water for all my water change but do not like the brownish color effect it has on the water in my tank, so would like to ask if it is ok to not use black water anymore for my future water changes.

Am having keeping only lamp eye species in my current tank.

    Thanks

I also experience slimy residue on the air tubings and suction pads. However, my sucker fish would feast on those. No casualty at all. I don't think it is corroding the plastic.
