Benibachi:
- Clears fast after initial water introduction.
- Experienced no loss of CRS with a 3 day old tank and a mature filtration system
- good maintenance of ph level at 6.4 even with ph raises like mineral rocks.
ADA Amazonia 2:
- Grew plants well
I'm planning on commissioning a scape tank with project soil soon. I'll get back to you when I have some hard results of that substrate.
I am changing soil soon and I am going for Benibachi as I don't have time to cycle the soil.
3 days will be good.
I think , that 3 days not enough.Even for newly cycled tank with mature filter in it it takes about a week.I normally cycle for a week.bro , do note that Benibachi soil do also contain some ammonia .
U can try to put them in pail with aeration for sometimes as one of the master have commented before. If your water is not problematic you can use the tank water with all your floura,dw etc put in the tank. You can try to find Master Silane pages or google for it. He got very good experience posted alot of good advise.
I thinking is if u do not have soil to buffer the ph etc. Than it is best to use back the tank water to put them into the empty tank while your new one is cycling.
Bro , it is possible .I did it before with successful. But a word of cation , do not change too much water.
Hi could someone advise if a 1ft cube tank using about 1 inch of Gex red packet could maintain pH ~6.5?
Would probably only change ~1-2 inch of water a week
Hmmm.. I have a friend who tried benibachi soil too.. He xfer his KK in on the 2nd day but with existing tank water and and filter. No casualties. Think it should be alright ba.. But i like the ADA powdered version that i have seen in some pics. Shrimps stand out more during photo taking..
Mad about shrimps!

To bro gryphon.
My sentiments is that that is too much.
I got a tank with 0.5 inch of gex red packet soil.

I have ADA 2 soil.
Did not do any WC.

Maybe my ph indicator got problem.

I using the GEX soil for plant and shrimp (red packet) for my 10 L Nano. After 1 month of dry start and 5 days after flooding the tank, pH is 7-7.5. No DW and only 1 Kurokinryu stone in tank.
I just recently setup 2ft with 18l of ADA II and have been cycle for 2 weeks...the ph about 5.8 but so far I have good experience with ADA soil.
2ft 18l that mean about 10cm of soil?
I using ADA 2 too.
I like the size but PH can go as low as 4.9.
Increase with some coral chips.
