My German Blue Ram couple suddenly become very "secretive" and hide behind the driftwood for days. Today I notice that there are a lump of white stuff at the underbelly
of the female, is she going to lay eggs soon? I tried to take a picture of her but she keep hiding and the male is always following her around. Can the pro and expert please advise on anything I can do now? thank you

After doing some research and watch youtube videos, I can confirm that the female is about to lay minimum 50 to 200 maximum eggs. The eggs will hatch in 40 hours and the fry will be freely swimming in 5 days time. I will be watching them and see when the laying is done.

I checked yesterday and today morning and can't find any white egg or any fry so I assume that they are gone either eaten up or whatever reason. Hope that they can try to spawn again.

That discus with blue ram video is not my tank, it is just a video that I watch while researching on blue ram spawning on Youtube. Now is to wait for the blue ram couple to spawn again in my tank.

Re: German Blue Ram laying eggs?

Sadly, 2 days ago, the male and female are guarding the eggs together but somehow this afternoon, the male is gone already. Did he die because he was too sad that he failed to guard the eggs or whatever? The female is still guarding the already empty driftwood, did she know that he and the eggs are gone?

I don't think that the male died because of sadness. Guarding females can be agressive as well but without more info anything is just theory. I think.
