i think my dwarf pencils bred!

i remembered very clearly having bought 8 of them many months ago and i never had them before. but this afternoon as i was catching my fishes out of my planted tank while i do some rearrangement, i counted 9 of them and the new one being distinctively smaller.

I do not know how they bred and how the fry survived given that it is a community aquarium. I perhaps never knew it bred since i was away staying in hostel. but anyhow, just to share my joy!

read an article in a fish mag that sometimes the best way - or the lazy man's way - to breed them is to leave them alone in a heavily planted tank. Guess one of them made it through even though it is a community tank.

    Congrats to you!

    They are Nannostomus Marginatus.

    Thanks for all well wishes!

I think i will attribute it to my tank being very densely planted and filtration through peat. (which to some is not advisable for a planted tank, but i have used it to no ill effects thus far)

    Cheers!

That's right! Hovering like dragonflies and they keep together as well.

Plenty of pencil fish at Plantas Aquarium. Check it out there.
