Never try this plant so not 100% sure but normally for this type of plant you trim as close as to the bulb.

Thanks shadow.. Meaning closer to the 'core' of the leaves right?

yes. Normally if you cut half of the leaf, the other half will slowly melt but I never try this plant so not 100% sure
