I have an interesting problem with K and Ca. I dose 1/3 recommended of Equilibrium to my full tank weekly, which should raise 1dGH and K by about 25ppm.

My Hygrophila corymbosa is perpetually showing K deficiency, and always obviously worse by mid-week and leaf drop-off by weekend. If I raise additional K via K2SO4, I get mild Ca deficiency from some of my other plants.

My GH is high, about 8dGH (+/-1). No idea where its coming from... gravel, water and some chalky rocks in my filter media (removed months ago) have all been eliminated as culprits. I wish there's a way to tell the Mg:Ca ratio.

I've started mid-week doses of 10ppm K and the H. is showing less severe symptoms. I will be looking for Ca deficiency following that dose.

Vinz, why don't you boost the Ca level up instead? See if it works..the GH might all be Mg?

Vinz, Mg may be your problem instead of K. I will go along with Pete on increasing Ca while maintaining K to prevent its deficiency.

I have quite similar situation. After dosing K2SO4, my Hygrophila polysperma 'Rosanervig' shows symptom of Ca deficiency and at the same time, Cardamine lyrata shows K deficiency.

Going to try out Ca and Mg dosing. Should I get a GH test kit to monitor the effect?

Where do you guys buy Seachem's Equilibrium from? I'd love to get my hands on it, just in case....so far I've only managed to find their Flourish, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium on sale in some places.

    Cheers,

    Kenny

Seachem Equilibrium is in powder form. You should see it in LFS like Petmart.

Try NA Nature Aquarium and Polyart at C328 too. I find that stocking levels are not consistent, so you may have to try a few places.
