Hi Amar,
Wow, you had been keeping these critters for two years!
I used to keep a couple of them ( fire belly newts) in my 6 ft paludarium together with my four African Front Clawed frogs and four Tree frogs, this Fire Belly Newts seems to prefer on land rather than in the water. However, I couldn't be able to find them until now, I guess they maybe may be or eaten by my White Tree Frogs.
Sad to say, my dear mod is right, keeping this Fire Belly Newts or whatever kind of salamanders is banned as a pet keeping in Singapore. Don't ask me why. However, I more than glad to talk about those critters that we used to have as this is our enthusiasm for those exotic critters will never end.
If you can upload more picture of your Fire Belly Newts and their home. Care to show off your tank that filled with fire fire critters!
Hope to hear from you, !
yeah, glad to hear something from our region too... nway, i have some difficulties uploading picture, nway, if next time, they allow you to keep them like last day, i hope you dont try to mix them with other species.. your FBN maybe...
1. eaten by frogs ( your frog must die caused from the toxic shows at the red belly)...
2. climb out from the tank like mine.. (i always find them in toilet)
these guys always like to escape, its like their hobby, in the pic u see i lower the water level already, but sometine they still manage to climb out, so its their hooby to climb out..DSC04176.jpg
Hi Amar,
Wow, thanks for showing off your tank, You got an interesting tank. Well, there is some new little improvement, you should cover the tank with either top acrylic clear lid or top glass lid to prevent this critters escape. If you can do away the inline flow filter and replace a mini canister will do a very good work for your tank, and you may even create water fall like Kota Tinggi within your tank. agree?
What do you feed your Fire Belly Newts and the rest of your salamanders? Are you based in Kuala Lumpur, may I ask?
See you around, new buddy!

yeah, i living in s.alam.. agree, but i still dont understand the word "mini canister"?? i really2 want to do that, an few ideas had come to mind.. i feed these guys normal food, frozen worm..![]()
The above quote is from Fei Mao's sticky thread... http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...s-in-SingaporeTherefore, whilst we can discuss intelligently about various species of fauna suitable for vivariums, terrariums and paluadariums, it is illegal to trade, procure and own these wildlife. Please do not assume that if the shop has it for sale, it's legal.
For more information, please visit www.ava.gov.sg
Discussion on fauna is allow in here but not threads on buy/sell of illegal fauna... so relax guys... anyway Amar is from Malaysia...
And yes mixing of different species is frown upon in many parts of the world...

Hi bro, nice fire-bellied newts!
You may like to design a simple cover for your tank since the newts will surely try to climb out sooner or later! As for the "mini canister" that Eddy is referring to, try google for "Eden 501" as a good reference.... I am feeding mine frozen blood worms, tubiflex worms, just moulted meal worms and sometimes even Hikari Lionhead pellets...
hehehe... actually i move on to more aquatic salamender now, paddle tail newt and axolotl, at my frist time i quite scare to post here cause there are masages that tell me not to post on these creature, hehehehe...... i cover the top of my aquarium with box now, you know, these guy are acyally like this, if they see an open space on top of them, they will climb, if not, they will not even try to although i just cover it with just piece of paper, that is their habbit...

How come they're in the fridge? Hibernation? Or do they actually do better in the fridge considering they require cooler temperature...

Have seen the photos on your facebook link and I must really say that you should try to go bare bottom for the axolotl... don't want any compaction problem which are so common for axolotls...

Hi Amar!
Wow this is seriously amazing!!!! I love to have those amazing Axolotis and Paddle Tail Newts in my 6ft paludarium, and they don't land as long they are aquatic critters just like my front clawed frogs.
For what I know about this amazing aquatic Axolotis is having long been known due to its amazing healing and regeneration abilities. e.g.: Normal wound healing also does not allow for most animals either heal but growth of scar tissue and unable to re-grow a lost limb. Nevertheless, this axolotl is fully capable of complete limb re-growth and no scar tissue! Unlike one of my Fronts Clawed Frogs which its hind leg been bitten off my red clawed crayfish a year ago, and that poor fella been struggling with swimming with only one hind leg but now still alive! hehehe!
Amar, have you tried cut its limb and see how this Axoloti re-grow the fully limb before?
Let hear from you, Amar!
my refregerator i set to 10-5 celsius, thats the lowest temperature axolotls can get...![]()
how much are axolotls sold for in malaysia?
bout rm 40-150..![]()
