Hi, I think it takes more than a day, usually up to weeks depending how you soak them. Some might suggest soaking them in hot water, like you boiled water and pour them in to soak. I've read it from somewhere that, in order for it to sink fast, you'll have to let it constantly soak in hot and cold water several times. Just what i remember, might be wrong.

I'm sure the rest will be able to help you better, or maybe do a search

    Re: floating bigwood...

Its normal to take sometime for bogwood to sink into water.
Give you a faster way is hold your bogwood in a container and then pour hot water on it or even boil it.
Then the bogwood would sink into water within one or two days.
Result depends on the size of your bogwood, bigger one takes more time.

Easier for you to tie a rock to weight it down. Some bogwood will take ages to sink.

I recommend that you weigh down on the wood, then pour hot boiling water on it till the wood is completely submerged. Cover your pail or container and leave at it for at least 2 days.

    Re: floating bigwood...

Haha... the thing is the bogwood is huge!! haha only 1/3 of it can fit into my bucket T.T

so currently i am only soaking the top part.

Will put it to my jewel tank soon but too busy with school.

Hopefully it will bring my pH down to 6.5 so my tetras can live much more comfortable ^^

I see... I am uncertain if alternating the sides for soaking will help but i would still suggest that you try to get one of those bigger tubs (easily & cheaply available from Daiso/Ikea) to soak the whole thing.
