I am using 2026 for 2x1, no issues. Really depends on where you direct the flow and if you are running it through a chiller, the stronger flowrate is good.

Hi bros, i intend to have a tank of size 2'x1.5'x1.5' its about 122 lit in volume, can i use eheim 2028, is this too strong and blow off the plants?
as far as i have read, there is two thoughts to it, one is to go for 10-15 times of its volume and another is to have a slower flow of 4 to 5 times, which is better , hopefully some good bros here can advise.
Many thanks

i dont see why not. i have the same setup as zonkkie![]()

If you have chiller and CO2 reactor, it will contribute the pressure drop and flow rate will be lower than rated. Probably others will have different experience since the eventual flowrate is subject to actual setup.

thanks all bros for your kind comments. not running through any chiller (office air con), and only in line diffuser with lily pipe, i would just try it and hopefully my plants will not be blown off.

Usually the suitable flow cycle for planted tank is 3times per hour.
Flow rate stated on the pump x 70% / the volume of your tank = 3 will be good.

I thought the huger flowrate is good. As mentioned by the bros so far, the actual flowrate is really lesser than the specified. Factors such as additional equipment added to the pipes, corners and bends, height the pump is placed, etc, plays a role in reducing the flowrate. Futhermore, it is always easier to reduce the current (directing the flow, using different outlets) than having a underrated pump.
Many 5 cents worth.

nah...no issues...
