Unless I'm mistaken, this is renrub's thread and his problem can (and most likely to) be totally different from yours.

If you are really expecting someone to even consider your problem, try to start another thread ... and this time, try to put in as much information as possible lest you expect us to be seers.

    Same problem? Betta Almighty?

You are Renrub aka Betta Almighty?

Before you post, it would be wise to read what's been written before posting and say it is the same problem. You risk making a fool of yourself.

Erm...we r different person. Dun get confused leh.C from the no. of posting can tell already.
What i meant is that 3 fishes from 3 different tanks died because they suffered from the same symtoms as bro renrub's fishes....checked water parameters already. Everything seems fine. Even the fishes from the 3 tanks seems fine until today.

till now i havent figured out how they died. Anyway its unlikely that its due to water parameters. Maybe u could try out some int. bacterial medicine ... maybe some kind of gill infection. GL

Has you fish stopped dying? If it is a bioload problem, after a few fish died, the bioload ywuold have adjusted themselves.

If the fishes are still dying, I think it is a good idea to stop the CO2 and install a small air pump as suggested by Pohsan. At the same time change 20% of the water. Test your tap water for pH and gH before using them. Our tapwater may have greater fluctuation than we expected. I once found the tapwater of my friend's house in Bedok at pH 8.5. Although your problem is low pH, it is still better not to trust the tapwater. Test the tapwater and adjust it before using it for your fishes. If your tap water gH is too high, it will be very difficult to correct the pH. In this case, I suggest that you buy distilled water from a supermarket. Not from petrol station because distilled water sold there may contain additives that are harmful to the fishes.

    I hope these help.

Im using Vitacraft test kit, and a ph pen to test my ph.
PH on pen is always ranging from 6.4-6.8.
PH on testkit shows below 6.4
Not sure which is more accurate.
My other fishes in the tank r only Boraras Merah and Hastatus. Not heavily planted and no CO2.
Funny thing is only my Apistos die. All from the same symtoms. Did a water change when 1 of em died but no improvements.

No, they have stop dying already...coz there r no more Apisto in my tank...fear to get 1. When i do a change of water, i always age it for a day or 2 b4 using it. Add genesis and did aeration. The Apistos seem alright for the 1st 2 weeks when only 1 started to die and another from another tank and so on......continuosly for 3 days. Note: Only the Apistos die.

The deaths has been slower recently cos whenever i see sick fishes, i removed them. pH and everything else ok, still cant figure out the deaths.

Seachem has a product called "Ammonia Alert" you can buy it from petmart. Price is cheaper than a test kit and considering that it does online monitoring instead of you having to meddle with test kit. Life time is around 1 yr so very worth it.

This will change color when you have some ammonia in your tank when the conc goes to 0.2ppm. Reaction time is 15-20mins according to the instructions. Will change back to yellow/orange (0ppm ammonia) after the condition is corrected.

I had bought one and put it in my marine tank so I don't need to test ammonia everyday.

Err... there's one slight problem here. This Ammonia Alert has a shelf life. That means that after several usage it will lose it's effectiveness... methinks the normal Ammonia test kist are cheaper. Better still.. keep Yamatoes... they're so finicky about ammonia, when they die, you might want to check out your water parameters... relatively cheap indicator that doubles as your cleaning crew!

snails are very good indicators for ammonia too... i noticed that if there is any ammonia in my tank, my snails will all march up towards the surface on command... juz like an army...

snails are even cheaper than yamatoes! cos they are free!!
