last time i used normal air tube too, initial no issue but the tube gave way after few months. then i switch to co2 tubing, for past 2 years no issue at all. it depends on what type of diffuser you using too.

In water: Silicon tube, safe for fish.
In Air: CO2 tube (black hard), no CO2 lost. 1) CO2 will be lost through the wall of silicon tube. 2) Pressure lost due to soft thin wall.

Co2 pipe is stronger and doesn't give way easily. But it would be best to use clear colour CO2 pipe where you can see any water going upward your pipe or did the check valve give way.
Thing is, where does one find CO2 tubing nowadays? I don't see those hard black tubings in shops...
Seaview has. Under ANS brand.
Previously I ordered it via ebay shop from Aquarium HK but does anyone know where can I get it locally other than seaview. The clear type one.
C328 I saw they have the black or blue tubing, wonder if that is CO2 proof tubing or just normal colored air line tubing.
The one I am using is made of Polyurethane by Taida and when soaked in tank water, it does not turns opaque at all. It remains clear and looks really nice in a planted tank. Only issue is it is very stiff and once connected to diffuser or check valve, it will be quite difficult to disconnect.

From my limited experience, the stiff co2 PU tubings are more helpfull when you need significant back pressure whereas silicon tubes will just expand. This is more important for people using diy co2 with atomizer due to the relatively larger pressure required and the slower generation. With pressurized co2, one gets instant pressure buildup hence the loss through diffusion/tube expanding is more negligible.
PU tubings are meant to be stiff, if you want flexible tubings then use regular ones? The ans ones are about 3x more expensive than the regular ones, but still not too bad...
There is a shop dealing with all types of hoses at King George Avenue. Near to the mrt entrance/exit.

Hi Jeff, c328 has ANS clear tubing, I last saw last thursday but the packaging was torn.
ANS type 3m $4-$5 depends where u buying from.
This looks good.

I'm gonna get a set for my UP CO2 high pressure diffusor.
For the last few places where I spotted the ANS clear ones, they were going for $6-$9 for 3m, so yea it works out to be about $2/m.
It was in packaging? The last time I went, the clear and colored tubbing are all hanging from the top. Normal air line tubing is the clear one and got another one opaque one. Anyway I gonna look for the very clear PU tubing.
This is the one that I got previously, only thing is got to wait 1 - 2 weeks + shipping charges. They sell in 2 different currency in USD and Pound, so do get using the lower one.
Also be careful of higher pressure, the bubble counter may give way like what mine did. Rated specs for this N&P Taida PU tubing can take more than 1000 psi so don't have to worry about it bursting.
I maybe going Lavendar to recce soon. Will update again after I go.

The Ans ones are all in a simple packaging 3m each, and either black or crystal clear. Given that the online prices are actually a little more expensive after the shipping charges, why not support our lfs?
Not sure if I can 'reccommend' any particular shop, but after a few run in with really bad sales attitude,a few days ago, I really appreciate the auntie at Havelock road who take her time in explaining the different products I was curious about. It was also one of the cheaper and more accessible ones around(I.have scouted a lot of the lfs in tampines, serangoon, clementi, west coast, yishun, and some of the more popular farms as well in the last couple weekends).
Havelock? You mean east ocean?

@jeff: Haha i think there's only one lfs at havelock.
@squee: I too don't have a car, but had lots of time and was really keen to check all things out before committing, wanted to share some information here only. Alot of these places are actually accessible via public transport, I just visit them after work or during weekend dates lol.
Don't get me wrong, I too ebay quite alot, especially branded camera stuff which seems considerably cheaper in hk. Currently eyeing some needle valves on ebay as well!
