Excuse me for asking stupid question.I have been using a daylight tube for my planted tank. Actually I bought a arcadia tube for the lighting but found it a bit long so I bought a NEC brand (6500K). Although no specialise for planted tank but still costs me S$13. Today I bought a new ATMAN lighting with 2 pink light(dunno how many K but is a 15W tude). When I replaced it, all my plants starts to bubble. My plants also bubble with white light but now plants seems to bubble until bubble can form a line.
So is pink light better? However I feel that the pink light likes less bright than my daylight lah.

a rough guide is anything above 6000k and below 10000k, Amano recommends 8500k.

    PohSan,

If you want to have bright and daylight look, try getting the tri-phospher daylight. Brands like NEC, Hitachi have them at a slight premium. For 4 footer, normal ones cost about $2.90, tri-phospher cost about $4.50.

Off-hand (I am not with my tank) I cannot give you the model. However, if you go to those big electrical shop, they should be able to tell you. Or simply tell them you wish to have the extra bright tube.

Thank, Managed to get the Hitachi's tri-phospher tube for $4.50. Just mentioned 15W to the boss and he know the dimension. Works well on my tank.

I'm using 11W PL light. Philips has 2 types of white (cool daylight and cool white). Both are white but the former has more blue wavelength while the latter has slightly more red. No color temp info was printed on the box or the tube.

    Could anyone advise ? Thanks.

I am using national and philips daylight 18W, so not enough to lit up the 3ft tank but add in another FL with 2 more tube.

But the FL tube is only $2 a tube so bang-4-buck!! Still have 2 acadia at home, found performance not so good so changed and never use anymore. Acadia bought at $18 a piece..... []
