Just sharing my knowledge about making a driftwood to sink:
You have to boil the driftwood, it will open up the pore and wet the wood.

wow thats a really nice setup, and a really cool wife hahah.
my gf nagged me non stop when i bought my less then 1ft sq base tank hahah.
by the way, how long does the HC start to settle down and spread out?
did u dose the tank heavily or according to the reccomended dosage? for the liquid fertilizers. thanks!
its funny how the gf always nags when purchasing at the LFS, but displays so much interest in the tank at home. waaaa the shrimp so cuteeeee, buy a few more friends for them leh.... - .-

@Ecalyte I am seriously considering apisto How efficient are they at hunting shrimp?

@Fishy Business. Thanks for your offer but I already got most of my hardware, I will let you know when I am considering upgrades

@Yulbrainer. The problem with boiling the driftwoods is they are pretty huge. each piece is around 1.5 - 2 feet which makes a bit hard to boil, unless I can find an industrial size pot

@p.albert I have to dose heavily because following the seachem recommended dosage got me a lot of problems early on in my tank. I managed to reduce algae, only after I increase dosing and reduce photo period. But the tank being beside the windows created some problem in controlling light period.. So I haven't manage to get rid of all my algae, and I still haven't manage to get my HC to spread nicely

Your Tiger lily is doing great!

    Impressive setup.

For your next itchy finger moment, maybe add an ozelot sword or more red pigment plants on the right?

Wow, nice lush healthy growth! I believe your wife must have trusted your planted tank skills to allow such a large tank hehe! And she is proud of it

By the way, how many kg of Amazonia soil did you use in the 6ft?

    Re: My 6x2x2

    Thanks for your comments bros.

@benjidog, actually there's a ozelot sword on the left below the big swords, i think i am going to do a big trim on the swords so that it has a chance to grow bigger
    @beetroot Can't remember exactly. I think I used something like 70kg
@jeff didn't really want the whole wood to be covered, but the moss and tiger lily overtook it.. I think I will be using less moss if I do a new setup, they are quite hard to control.

The problem of being unable to control GROWTH of plants in your tank is one many of us would like to have... haha!
