After some time away from having an aquarium, I finally got the time and freedom to start a new tank.

Initially planned as a 4 footer, somehow it turned into a 6 footer because my wife think that it would look better to have most of the wall covered

    Re: My 6x2x2

I was trying the layouts with the 3 pieces of driftwood I bought

And decided to a test with water a few days before planting..
Wanted to make sure my filters and chiller is working, and if my driftwood is ok...
Turned out that driftwoods are floaters

    Re: My 6x2x2

So had to get a few piece of rocks to tie them down... meanwhile I got some mini Christmas moss from bros Adrian (blue33).. and fissiden from fellow forumer Wilson (bpippen) Also got some pretty good advice from Adrian

So I was tying everything up and trying to get everything weightdown... It was pretty hard work. But after 2 long nights I managed to get them under control..

    Re: My 6x2x2

Actual planning took about 3 months. Equipments are bought over a period of 1 month, planting took a few late nights and 1 whole weekend.....

Currently dosing using all Seachem products, hoping to change to solid fert as soon as possible...

After 1 week of cycling, during Good Friday, I decided not to wait any longer and decided to start the tank with seachem stability and seachem prime
After which, I just added some cardinals and otos, looking good so far

Just normal stuff cardinal, rummy nose, Congo tetras.
One thing to note though.... If you are planting HC do not put in cories until the HC carpet is done..... They are tearing everything up :/

I can't believe it... a pair of electric blue rams spawned in my nearly 2 weeks old tank... But well most of the eggs are gone this morning

Very cool setup! May I know the pricing of your 6 x 2 x 2 ft tank, and where did you purchase it from? Thanks in advance!

Looking great. When that HC fills up nicely....it will look lovely. I am sure the fishes would enjoy the space in a 6 footer.

    Re: My 6x2x2

Here's an update of my tank
Taken with my iphone.. so quality not that good.

    Lessons learned
-No cories if you are going to plant HC
-Congo tetras love to eat shrimps.. (I gave them to a friend)
-a 6 feet tank needs a lot of fert... (seachem is earning a lot money from me, changing to dry fert to save cost)

I am currently battling GDA and fuzz/string algae.. I just added 100 yamatos after the initial 50 that I added got devastated by the Congos...

    Wow..

    Fantastic looking tank!

Ever thought of adding some Apistos into the tank to add some lifestock character? Hehe! In a tank like this.. you could easily have 3-4 pairs of different types of apistos, and it'd look surreal!
