Got this pair of wilhemi "purple chin" from another forummer. Refused to flare at mirror beginning few days and was very extremely timid. It would go into hiding whenever it saw any camera/phone pointing at it.

Yes, it got a nice purple chin. The color on it's body and tail is more towards blue color, with the usual yellow on its face and surrounding area. Dorsal fin edge with red , but not that intense.

Finally managed to take a shot ( but the lighting was bad and tank was dirty ),

Good news is, the female has laid the eggs 2 days back. Hope to see the fries in 1 week 's time.

How long did you get it... So fast they breed for you... Care to share how you did it... Example like your water parameter...
    Nice handsome male there...

    Re: Apistogramma Wilhemi "Purple chin"

I got them 1 week ago. Nothing special about my setup or water parameter. Just a simple tank with a thin layer of substrate, and some ketapang leaves to lower the pH.

I believe that the pair has bred fast because they have spawned before ( it's a confirmed pair ). Otherwise, i didn't do any special thing to trigger the spawn.

Wilhemi "purple chin" is a quite nice species, i should say.

Sometime, the fishes just refuse to spawn when we give them special attention.
When we just slightly neglect them, they just spawn.

Apistoinka, do not let the spawning thingy affect you or else it will kill off your hobby.

    Re: Apistogramma Wilhemi "Purple chin"

I think the key to spawning is to able to spot a real pair of apisto. Nowadays in LFS, so many sneaker male exist. Once you get that right, it's just a matter of time they breed.

Actually, i buy apisto also have high expectation that they breed for me. haha.

sorry to hijack this post buy where is a good place to buy apisto?
Romans 6:12-13. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.

    Re: Apistogramma Wilhemi "Purple chin"

Yeah, it's kinda of rare to see apisto on sale nowadays. But AQ forum already got the most apisto sale in singapore.

Anyway, i think got 50% chance that this round of spawn might be gone case.

Another shot on the male wilhemi flaring at the mirror, it is currently in the separation tank. very low light and powdery substrate.

All my crypto plants in this tank, all kenna wiped out by this fellow. I don't know why !!
