    Hi guys,

I had been searching for a two tube T5 lighting that suits my 83cm width tank but no result as most LFS carries either 2ft or 3 ft. Does anyone has any knowledge where or any brand/model that I can get? A 2.5ft(76cm) is fine if it is extendable to 83cm.

    Thanks.

Re: Need help on lighting for 83cm width tank

For T5/T5HO lamp, tube length are fixed, whatever the brand it is.
    Kindly refer to below table:

    T5/T5HO.........Tube Length(in/mm)
    14W/24W.........21.61/549
    21W/39W.........33.42/849
    28W/54W.........45.24/1149
    35W/80W.........57.05/1449

OMG, 83CM is not a lucky number here...

I think your tank is designed for T8 25W, see below:

    T8...............Tube length (in/mm)
    15W............15/381
    18W............18/457
    20W............24/610
    25W............30/762
    30W............36/914
    40W............42/1067
    40W............48/1219
    58W............60/1524

i think a 3 feet light set will just works fine. you get more WPG too. if not DIY and hang the 3 feet so that it will look much better ( easier maintenance too )

I can't use a 3ft as it will touch my curtain, risk of fire. Hanging is not what I would go for because above is false ceiling.. Never thought so much about light when making this custom made cabinet+tank. Look like I'll have to stay on with my Boyu PL 2' which has extendable bracket till I can find one that is suitable..

you can also make your own light stand from aluminium. That way you can hang your 2ft light higher to give better coverage without the need of making a hole on your false ceiling

@ladygaga: thanks for the light tube length info, I've been looking for this but to lazy to do my own
