    Hi,

Been new to scaping, I had tied my weeping moss and mini christmas moss onto my driftwood, flooded 1 day after and now 1 week later, my moss turns brown!!! My Hairgrass are still healthy and my HC have minimum melting (good news). Below are my tank specs:

    - 2x1.5x1 tank
    - Eheim 2226
    - 4x24w T5HO 10k (2hrs + 5hrs)
    - HC, Weeping Moss, Dwarf Hairgrass, Mini Christmas Moss
    - CO2 1.5bps
    - Dose Seachem Flourish Iron/Potassium/Excel as recommended on bottle.
    - Wondergro Pro-Root+ in Soil
    - ADA Amazonia + BeniBachi Soil (intend to keep CRS 1 month later)

previously had a shrimp tank before rescape. Had US Fissidien last time round. Also had the same problem of turning brown (Not as brown as this time), but after 2 weeks or so, my fissidien grow out new green leaves. So i dunno whats wrong this time round.

    Any pros help?????

I think 96W is alright.. Approximately 3WPG as my tank size is almost like yours.. (mine is 60x40x40cm)

Is your moss very near to the lights? That might cause the browning..
    What's your water temperature?

    Re: Moss Turn Brown! Help!!

I usedto have this situation too. Because I flooded my tank with tap water with all the moss and many of them turn brown. You would have to wait for a while before new tiny green shoots shoot out. They look green and tiny out from current brown. Some will survive but some will always remain brown and die?

Temp and light would be the key to moss.

    Just sharing my experience.

    Cheers

My water Temp is around 25-26. Running On chiller. So the tap water is the cause of these problems?? Those that are brown are on a branch running up to the water surface and some which are at the back of the branches. Came back today and i realised half of my HC turns dark green!! as if they are going to melt soon. Damn it.
Are the tap water the likely source of all these problems?
