If the trio is 1M 2F, it is better.
Hi bros, am trying to breed apisto caca and agasizzi, would it be better to introduce a pair or a trio for optimum results ?
Concern is the fight among them and the non brooder eating the eggs or fries of the brooder

Usually there is something wrong with the initial pair when they are not spawning.
Example: sneaker male, female not ready.
I try not to use trio unless you have another tank to house the third party.

For me I'll usually have trio so the male can choose... Once it start to breed and successfully spawn I'll take out the male and other female and left the spawning female alone... By doing this provided you have a spare tank...
Go for a pair unless you have spare tanks for separation later.
