Please advice and ask if I can help.![]()
Hi bro and sis,
I just moving to this new flat at Sengkang so I want to custom diy build a 5 feets arowanas community tank and 3 feets marine tank setup and the diy journey finally can start now. Due to my working hour 9.00am to 4.00pm I'll will try to slowly build all the tank including sump filter; overflow system; cabinet; laminate; aquarium hood; PVC pipe work; acrylic work and lastly the hard work LED light <---- this might need more time to custom made because I'm not very good in electronic stuff. I hope to build this project in 1 month time while I waiting for my custom made 12mm aquarium tank that need 3 - 4 weeks to complete. Hopefully everything run smoothly so I might need some expert aquarist to help me to this project.
DAY 1 - 13/05/2011 Friday of 13th.
I just receive my Kapour wood and some plywood today for my aquarium stand and hood and has been researched more than 2 month ago for wood type and finally make up my mind to this type which it does support heavy weight and strength can be level compare to Chengal Wood but Chengal wood price wise will be cost a bomb so I would likely choose this one CHEAPER because DIY. Secondly while this wood would be just the structure for the aquarium stand ad will be hide inside so no need to be use so nice pretty patented wood like Chengal.
No picture now so will be posting more picture and updates more after tomorrow.![]()
Please advice and ask if I can help.![]()

Hi no worry we're here to help
The wood very affordable u can jus buy 2"x2"
Thickness kapour wood will do unless u planing to go over.
I recommend this cos so the Ada style cabinet won't look so bulky.
For price wise u can try alot of wood supplier near payah lebah mrt there
It cost me $3++ for my 5ft and 3ft cabinet u can try ask few supplier first
before u buy would be a good idea. The shop did send your wood
For cutting service nearby their shop 20 buck for my 35pcs of wood and u
Actually need to give them dimension first before they can cut for you. You
can buy and cut on the same day so find one weekday go ba.
wow thanks for the information. anyway, do they open on sunday? you mean it only cost you $300+ to DIY a 5ft and 3 ft cabinet?

Great job for an ambitious job of a 5ft and a 3ft marine tank. You need 2 different sumps and setups with different needs for lighting and chiller. Perhaps you can show a picture of your plan so that we can give some comments?
Haiz a quite busy schedule for me this week and had to fly oversea for 3 days not much time to build oso but I only completed a 3 feets stand and just need a little touch up will post up the picture tonight
It's a US Crystal glass
i'm looking forward for the pictures.
Hope to see the photos soon.
Thanks.
how to upload picture lei zzzz
Bro AGK, you create a (free) account in a site that allows you to upload photos (ie online albums most popular: picasa web, photobucket, flickr etc etc).
After uploading, make sure you enable the album to be viewable by public (or those with the links), select the photo you want to insert into your post and "right click" on the photo to "copy image URL".
From within the AQ Forum thread window, click on the "insert image" icon (the tree next to envelope and movie reel -) and paste the URL onto the field of the pop up window. You're done!
Here some pic the woods and accessories arrived.
