All Plants needs CO2 to produce food...

If you want to have a tank without cylinder or DIY CO2, you need plants with low light mainly...

Good choice will be anubias, small Cypts(eg wendii) and java moss...

But it is best to use CO2 even for low light tank.. will see lots of different...

Can consider floating plants as they can tap atmospheric CO2.

Other low maintenance plants are Java Fern, Anubias sp.
Hornwort grows without much difficulty too.

my tanks have java ferns and nana only, no co2 cos that's "alien" to me till i started reading forums like this one.

so far, they're all surviving and even most growing.

    good luck!

Guys, u can consider growing the plants emersed. This will not limit the types of plants in your tank.

1 drawback is plants that grow emersed will tend to ignore the leaves below the surface
one way dennerle recommends is to grow them in a pot suspended in the water, such that the roots get the nutrients hydroponics style

the normal T divider from LFSes cannot be used
they either leak or they will burst

you can go for Anubias species, Echinodorus tenellus, Sagitarria sp., Crypts, Hygrophila stricta, Hygrophila difformis, Mayaca sp., Vallisneria sp., Rotala indica (if you have very bright light), Aponogeton crispus, Java fern/moss, Sumatran fern (Ceratopteris), Echinodorus major/bleheri, maybe even water lilies.

But floating plants would be good to help soak up excess nutrients and shade from algae.

If your concern is the co2 supply problem, you still can have a normal planted tank. You can use DIY co2 or like wat has mentioned, split the supply.
    Cheers!!

T divider bursting? Not mine... I got some T dividers from nature green in color... works like a charm...

However if you're refering to the metal type... I agree it sucks... those with the tap even worst...

ya, agree with gerald.. the metal ones with the tap, sux... the plastic T splitter works better, connect tube and then use white tap to seal any gaps. Fiesto do sell professional splitters

I think your question is actually "what plants can I keep in a Co2-less tank". Plants that can dun use CO2 go about getting their carbon source from carbonates, via biogenic decalcification. eg. are Vals, cabomba, but your KH will drop as the plants remove the carbonates.
The important thing when you dun have CO2 is to maintain
    1) low light
    2) low light plants
    3) low fish loads.
Plants will grow very very slowly.

    Thks for the response.

    Appreciated.

Concern about splitter is how to get the CO2 distributed according to different tank size.

e.g. 3ft and 4ft as plants load is different.

What plastic splitter huh? Is it the type for normal air pump one? Won't leak meh, especially if you use diffuser or air stone?
In any case, I sure there will be valves for you to control the output of either ends.

the T joint (usually green plastic) doesn't have valves to control output
the fiesto ones do, as do the amano ones
