Just watch nature or in this case the sun.
Well you know the sun is always there, just that on and off throughout the day its cover by the clouds or the plant got blocked or it rains etc, so cant see it. If I go purely by that than in theory it should be okay , right? Of course I wont know the weather pattern or the solar rotation angles over ALL the various continents on the planet so I might be wrong
Was hoping to get a less cryptic answer...........I am sort of like REAL dumb, need a real dummies guide to planted tank.....search the FAQs and cant seem to find it there.......so I did what my teacher told a dumb *** like me to do . ASK
Thanks in advance for any simple answers
If you are really wish to have a siesta break, make it no more than 2-3hrs. While some people claim that a break helps keep algae at bay, there is no scientific evidence that support this claim. Some stem plants 'open up' for only 10-12hrs each day to bask in the light (e.g. Cabomba, Ludwigia sp 'Cuba') and having too long a break in lighting hours may affect them adversely.
