i felt that tanks measuring using cm would be more accurate. you should give the cabinet slightly more space like say +5cm? just in case you might never know,so is better to give some allowance.

Are standard 3 feet tanks e.g OceanFree brand actually 90 cm and not 3ft in lenght?
I am having the idea of building a customized cabinet to hold a 3 feet tank which I will be buying from a LFS. Should I build the cabinet with a length of 3 feet or 90cm?

+5cm is too much gap. Trying to make it as tight fit as possible. Thanks!
err, why don't you go personally measure the oceanfree 3 feet tank before you custom make.

I think OceanFree are using centimeter because I have a 2ft Oceanfree and the LFS told me that standard tanks are measured in centimeters.
Well I am looking for an answer to my question is because what if I see a nicer looking standard tank but it's not from OceanFree and if it's dimension are in feet, I will.
Should be measured in inch
Actually my humble opinion is that you may be better off choosing a cabinet tank set. They'll provide the fit, and it'll look better than an ocean free tank.
If we google "standard fish tank size", it will return sizes in inches. Probably USA standards.
However, mizuword, ada tanks, oceanfree tanks are in cm.
Hi, How would the cm or feet measurement affect you in customizing you cabinet?
I think the carpenter or wood supplier will give you what you want in the metric provided by you![]()
the difference between 90cm and 3feet is only 1.4 cm. . . .just remember to make the cabinet bigger, if not you will have a big mess to clear.
