finally after botaking my hairgrass I am able to see both my licorice gourami, especially the female. they used to hide in the grass searching for food and very hard to take pictures because they're always obscured.

Parosphromenus sp. 'Jambi' this pair came from Pijoan, Jambi province (Sumatra), Indonesia.

During courtship the male flares itself and the colours become very very intense (as shown), the female optionally may also show pink flash on her fins (see video) in response.

Nice picture taken, maybe the first picture you can step back to get it more focus. Seems like it's OOF. Correct me if i'm wrong. Nice fish!
    Cheers!

yes it is slightly OOF, but the model wasn't very cooperative and since I wasn't paying him (heck I'm not even feeding them!), nothing much I can do but to wait for another opportunity. [:]

Nice... Parosphromenus has always been my favorite fish. By the way, can you ID mine. Is it really P anjungensis? The one on the Net seems different.

The pic in your imagestation file.

Nice fish! I love gouramis like these. But they are so hard to photograph.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

whoa, really shaky pic your lens too heavy hand shake? [:] anyway rather hard to tell your fish was flaring or showing the colours. where did you get the fish, I thought the Parosphromenus anjunganensis only found in Sungai Penjuh area in Kalimantan Barat.
