Let me know if you have found the answer.
Every type of substrate got pro and con. ADA soil will disintegrate after 3-5 years depending if you have plants. Btw, plants grown in ADA soil has been known to grow fabulously.
Hi bros and sis!!
I humbly seek your attention =)
I am new here and also new to making a planted tank. I have read up some of the post over here and also some websites about creating a planted tank. And i am still confuse and un-certain of the things that i need to get for my planted tank.
i am now rather confuse on 1 thing which is substrate.
I am planning to get ADA. But after reading some threads and post, it says that ADA Amazonia will lower KH/PH. which i am quite worried because i am going to get a co2 cylinder for my 4FT tank too.
The plants that i want to keep at the moment i have not yet settled down. I went to the library to borrow some books regarding about plants. So that will be settled down soon.
i really seek your help regarding abt substrates. I really want to see my planted tank blossom and not gruesome. haha! i thank you guys in advance
cheers
david

Many of us use ADA soil with no issues. IMHO, kH and gH don't matter so much when keeping fish as opposed to shrimp - Especially the more hardy and robust fishes like pencilfish which do well in a planted aquarium
Cheers,
Bernard
Kept (no more ) Betta persephone, B. miniopinna, B. sp. palangkaraya, B. uberis, B. channoides, B. burdigala
Pseudepiplatys annulatus, Nannostomus eques
I have been using ADA Amazonia for some time. Its a great substrate and my plants are all doing well.
