I actually brought the UV light to treat my green-water problem, and now it has been solved. The UV light is on together with my lighting for 12 hours, should I stop the UV lighting or cut down the UV lighting hours?

    Thanks...

you should switch off the uv unless there is a specific need for it.
uv will render some nutrients, i think fe, to a form which is useless for plants.

The UV will also destroy your benefactial bacteria which is essential for bio filtration.

previously i reduced the UV lighting hours down to 4 hours at night when the lighting is off. But had to use a separate timer for that.

But now I have stopped the UV light totally as there were no more green water problems.

I am just to lazy to reassemble the connections again especially everything was in place. Could I just leave the UV light there without switching on?
