What are things I can do to slow down plant growth so that I do not have to trim them too frequently?

I do not intend to remove CO2. I have no chiller.
I want to keep the creeping plants (glosso) low.

Can I do it with shorter photo period, lower WPG? Ferts will be reduced accordingy but do not want stunt growth.

    Pls advise.

Shorter photo period and slightly higher temperature. Don't reduce wpg.

Higher temp? As from my experience it will only grow faster with a higher temp.

Generally, algae will gow faster with higher temp, plants normally grow slower with higher temp.

That's not what I observed. Before installing the chiller, my plants were growing like crazy. After I installed my chiller the growth of the plants actually slowed down. Difference also in the warmer water the plants were thin and long but in the cooler water it was lush.

Keep only slow-growing rosette plants. I grew tired of trimming and replanting fast-growing plants and stem-plants after a while. That's just my suggestion.

Check out this thread for a very comprehensive read about how and why we should approach growth management by limiting light:

One of the main reason being that light is very easily controlled and kept constant when compared to temperature/ferts/CO2/etc.
