How is the buyer going to carry the tank back with all the plants and sand?

it not advicable to carry tank with water in it... the base will crack.. unless you have a big solid wooden/metal base to hold it and carry.. but for 3ft with sand and plants and water .. hmmm I think it weight at least 100Kg

    Hi all,

Not to worry cos when collecting e tank, water will be drained to 20%-30% only...safety measures will be taken. Tks & Cheers. []

assuming your tank dimension is 90 X 45 X 30, your tank volume would be around 120L of water which is about 120kg. Drained of the water to 25% should give you around 30kg. Adding this to your weight of your gravel and tank should be around 50kg, which gives you a total of 80kg to be supported by the glass base of your tank.

You think it will be ok?
    Cheers!!

Possible - if they lift it together with the metal stand/cabinet and place on a big enough trolley. And wheel it to the destination... []

    Good luck!

I personally believe it is a crazy thing to do to move the tank with all its contents!!! Perhaps you can highlight what are your "safety measures". Will you at any point in time be lifting the tank with bare hands?? With the weight of the tank, the sand and water, the base of the tank may not withstand the stress. Also, the danger of tank slipping from your fingers is greater with a heavy tank![]

I guess we are all concerned with the safety aspect of what you intend to do, so please think through again!!!

    Cheers,

Save your self some weight by draining even more water... maybe even all. then gladwrap the top of the tank and bring a long a spray. Spray the plants along the way to keep them moist.

    Hi all experts,

Juz like wat Bro Juggler said it's gonna lift off wif e wrought iron stank, the tank is not gonna be lift alone. This is my safety measure. Anyway, the thickness of the entire tank is 8mm glass(all round) & 10mm glass(base). Tks for all advises.

Yeah - I am right! Any prize? []

As Vinz advised, better drain off more water. Keep the tank interior humid by using glad wrap all over. Collect as much of the old water as possible to reuse in the new location.

I did this last time for a 2ft tank. Hand-carry.
The buyer take it easy huh - just plug-and-play instant planted tank.

What about sudden move if 1 of the guys can't hold the entire tank and stand. I'm sure you be seeing some of the sand shifting around inside and totally ruin the setup. If the tank is going down or up the staircase, can confirm with you this scenario will occur. The end result is the new owner will not recognised what he had purchased before. If that happens, would you want to lug back the tank home?

Maybe I have a weak back, but the last time when I shifted my drained 2ft (still with 10kg of sand and plants) when I bought a new cabinet, I ended with a strained back and was MC for 2 days. [] Not advisable especially now it is a 3ft.

Don't think that 10-20kg is nothing to worry about. Had pulled my back muscle a couple of times. Everytime I breathe in, can feel the pain. Can't even inhale air deeply. Need a couple of guys to escort me to the company clinic. Suffer for a few days too.

Another reason to drain out all the water first... if you leave about 30% water inside, the water will slosh around during the move (especially in the car/truck/etc) and could stir up or shift the gravel, uproot plants, etc.

Have fun catching the fishes without removing the plants.

Basefert may leak if the shifting of sand/gravel is severe enough.

Hmmm... since your draining all the water... drain until you have only a few cm of water left... It'll be easier to catch the fish. The problem will be to find all those that are stuck among the plants. You have to be fairly confident you know exactly how many fishes you have and make sure you account for all of them. One way is to slowly herd them towards the foreground area as the water gets lower and lower.

Drive slowly! 30Kg on top of a stand, it's going to be top heavy and may just topple if not careful.

OOI! Don't do it lah! if lucky everything go smoothly.

Sligtly unlucky, New owner complaint the setup not like the one he/she saw at your home!

Moderate unlucky, setup and gravel get mess up badly during transportation and base fert all over and plants have to be replanted and rescape.

Very unlucky, before the tank reach the new owner home drop on floor, the rest no need to say liao.

Super unlucky, the tank fell break and hurt someone!

Count the number of UNLUCKIES!!! please dismantle everything and start afresh! this is not a 1.5ft or 2ft tank!
